TV Xiaomi bán trong nước Trung Quốc ra khỏi hộp là giao diện tiếng Trung, không có kho ứng dụng quốc tế, và nút micro trên remote bị trợ lý tiếng Trung của Xiaomi giữ. Trang này đưa bạn từ trạng thái đó về một chiếc TV dùng được: menu tiếng Anh, cài được app ngoài, LaunchPad làm giao diện chính.

Việc chia làm hai phần. Phần 1 làm bằng remote ngay trên TV, ai cũng phải làm. Phần 2 là app LaunchPad Clean chạy trên điện thoại, làm nốt phần còn lại giúp bạn. Ai muốn tự gõ lệnh thì có Phần 3 ở cuối trang.

Phần 1 — Chuẩn bị TV bằng remote

Bốn việc dưới đây làm hoàn toàn trên TV, không cần máy tính hay điện thoại. Làm xong bạn sẽ có: menu tiếng Anh, TV đã nối Wi-Fi, chế độ gỡ lỗi đã bật, và địa chỉ IP của TV.

Video quay thật toàn bộ thao tác của Phần 1 trên một chiếc TV Xiaomi nội địa, không có tiếng. Xem trước một lượt rồi làm theo sẽ nhanh hơn đọc.

Chữ trên ảnh là tiếng Trung. Ảnh chụp từ ROM nội địa nên menu còn tiếng Trung. Bạn đối chiếu bằng vị trí của ô và hình dáng của chữ, đừng cố đọc. Sau bước đổi ngôn ngữ thì mọi thứ về tiếng Anh.

1.1 — Đổi giao diện sang tiếng Anh

Mục chọn ngôn ngữ không nằm trong màn hình Cài đặt thường. Nó chỉ hiện ra ở bảng cài đặt nhanh, và bảng đó chỉ bật lên khi bạn nhấn giữ phím Cài đặt. Bấm nhả bình thường sẽ không thấy.

Bước 1. Nhấn giữ phím Cài đặt (phím hình bánh răng hoặc ba gạch, nằm bên phải remote) tới khi một bảng trượt ra. Chọn ô 通用设置 — ô đầu tiên.

Bước 2. Trong danh sách vừa mở, kéo xuống tìm dòng 语言 (ngôn ngữ) rồi bấm OK.

Bước 4. TV hỏi lại cho chắc. Hộp thoại có hai nút: bấm nút xanh bên trái, chữ 确定 (đồng ý). Nút bên phải 取消 là huỷ, bấm vào đó là không có gì xảy ra.

Bước 5. Màn hình chớp một cái rồi menu chuyển sang tiếng Anh. Xong.

Cùng danh sách cài đặt lúc nãy nhưng giờ toàn bộ nhãn đã là tiếng Anh, dòng Language hiển thị giá trị English.

1.2 — Nối TV vào Wi-Fi

Bước 1. Nhấn giữ phím Cài đặt lần nữa để mở lại bảng cài đặt nhanh, chọn ô Wi-Fi.

Bước 2. Chọn tên mạng nhà bạn trong danh sách, nhập mật khẩu, chờ tới khi mạng đó báo đã kết nối. Điện thoại hoặc máy tính bạn dùng ở Phần 2 và Phần 3 phải nằm trên cùng mạng Wi-Fi này.

1.3 — Bật chế độ gỡ lỗi (ADB)

Không có bước này thì cả app LaunchPad Clean lẫn lệnh adb đều không nói chuyện được với TV.

Bước 1. Mở app Settings của TV, tìm ô About ở hàng dưới (cạnh Display / Sound / Input source) và bấm OK.

Bước 2. Di chuyển xuống dòng Model rồi bấm OK khoảng 5 lần, đến khi dưới màn hình hiện "You are now a developer" (lần đầu) hoặc "You are already a developer" (đã bật từ trước, cũng là xong).

Trên ROM này là dòng Model, không phải dòng Build như hầu hết máy Android khác. Bấm vào dòng Build ở đây không mở được gì.

Bước 3. Bấm Back về màn hình Cài đặt, chọn ô Account & Security ở hàng trên.

Bước 4. Trong mục SECURITY, đặt cả hai dòng thành Allow: Unknown sources (không có nó thì TV không cho cài app ngoài) và ADB debugging.

Lần đầu điện thoại hoặc máy tính kết nối, TV sẽ bật một hộp thoại xin phép gỡ lỗi. Phải bấm Allow ngay trên TV, và nên tích thêm ô "luôn cho phép từ máy này". Bỏ qua hộp thoại đó thì kết nối treo ở trạng thái chưa được cấp phép.

1.4 — Xem địa chỉ IP của TV

Mở lại bảng cài đặt nhanh, vào ô Wi-Fi, chọn mạng đang dùng (mạng bạn vừa nối ở bước 1.2). Màn hình chi tiết hiện ra, tìm dòng IPV4 address. Đó là bốn số cách nhau bằng dấu chấm, thường bắt đầu bằng 192.168.. Ghi lại, Phần 2 và Phần 3 đều cần.

Phần 2 — Dùng app LaunchPad Clean (khuyến nghị)

LaunchPad Clean là app Android chạy trên điện thoại của bạn. Nó nói chuyện với TV qua ADB không dây, nên không cần máy tính, không cần cáp, không phải gõ một dòng lệnh nào.

Bạn chỉ cần: mở app, nhập địa chỉ IP lấy ở bước 1.4, hoặc bấm nút dò tìm để app tự quét các TV trong mạng. Bấm Allow trên TV khi được hỏi. Phần còn lại app tự làm:

Cài trình khởi chạy LaunchPad TV, bàn phím, app Cài đặt thay thế và tìm kiếm giọng nói Google.
Tự cấp các quyền LaunchPad cần, trong đó có quyền đổi ngôn ngữ và khu vực của cả máy.
Tự gỡ giao diện Xiaomi gốc, sau khi trình khởi chạy mới đã cài xong và chạy được.
Dọn app rác: trợ lý tiếng Trung đang giữ nút micro, các app quảng cáo và app nội địa Trung Quốc.

App làm đúng thứ tự an toàn: cài cái thay thế trước, gỡ cái cũ sau. Đó cũng là chỗ dễ sai nhất nếu tự làm bằng tay.

Link tải: sắp có. App đang hoàn thiện. Trong lúc chờ, bạn dùng cách thủ công ở Phần 3.

Phần 3 — Cách thủ công bằng `adb` từ máy tính

Phần này dành cho ai muốn tự làm từng bước. Nó cho ra kết quả giống Phần 2, chỉ là bạn gõ tay. adb là công cụ chính thức của Google để máy tính nói chuyện với thiết bị Android.

An toàn: mọi lệnh gỡ ở đây đều dùng --user 0, nghĩa là chỉ ẩn app khỏi người dùng hiện tại — app vẫn còn nguyên trong máy, không bị xoá khỏi bộ nhớ. Bật lại bất cứ lúc nào bằng pm install-existing, và khôi phục cài đặt gốc cũng trả lại toàn bộ.

3.1 — Cài `platform-tools`

Tải bản đúng với hệ điều hành máy tính của bạn (link chính thức của Google):

Giải nén ra một thư mục rồi mở cửa sổ dòng lệnh tại chính thư mục đó. Windows: bấm vào ô địa chỉ của thư mục, gõ cmd, Enter. macOS hoặc Linux: mở Terminal, gõ cd rồi kéo thư mục vào cửa sổ, Enter, và các lệnh dưới đây gõ thành ./adb ….

3.2 — Kết nối tới TV

Thay <IP-TV> bằng địa chỉ lấy ở bước 1.4:

adb connect <IP-TV>
adb devices

Lệnh thứ hai phải in ra một dòng kết thúc bằng device. Nếu là unauthorized thì quay lại TV bấm Allow. Nếu là offline thì chạy lại adb connect. Không thấy dòng nào thì kiểm lại IP và Wi-Fi. Cắm cáp USB cũng được, khi đó bỏ qua lệnh connect.

3.3 — Nhường nút micro lại cho LaunchPad

Hai lệnh này ẩn trợ lý tiếng Trung của Xiaomi, chính nó đang giành nút micro trên remote:

Mỗi lệnh chạy xong in Success. In Failure [not installed for 0] nghĩa là máy bạn không có app đó, bỏ qua, hoàn toàn bình thường.

3.4 — Cấp quyền cho LaunchPad

Để LaunchPad đổi được ngôn ngữ và khu vực của cả TV, nhờ đó tìm kiếm giọng nói hiểu tiếng Việt:

adb shell pm grant com.tieume.launchpadtv android.permission.CHANGE_CONFIGURATION

Hai lệnh này không in gì khi thành công. Không có thông báo lỗi là xong. Chúng chỉ tác động tới LaunchPad.

3.5 — Đặt LaunchPad làm giao diện chính

Làm đúng thứ tự: cài LaunchPad TV trước, mở lên chạy thử, chắc chắn nó hoạt động, rồi mới gỡ giao diện Xiaomi. Gỡ trước khi có cái thay thế thì TV không còn màn hình chủ nào: bấm HOME ra màn hình trống, và cách duy nhất vào lại là qua adb.

adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.mitv.tvhome

Gỡ xong, bấm HOME trên remote. Hệ thống sẽ hỏi chọn giao diện nào, chọn LaunchPad TV và tích "luôn dùng app này" nếu có. Nếu TV không hỏi, vào Cài đặt tìm mục chọn màn hình chủ (tên tuỳ ROM: Home, Home screen, Launcher).

3.6 — Dọn app quảng cáo và app nội địa Trung Quốc

Những app dưới đây ẩn đi được cho TV gọn và ít quảng cáo hơn. Chỉ gỡ những cái bạn không dùng, đừng dán cả khối: có thứ bạn có thể đang cần, ví dụ trình bảo vệ màn hình. Lệnh gỡ:

com.xiaomi.tv.appupgrade — tự cập nhật các app Xiaomi cài sẵn.
com.ktcp.tvvideo — Tencent Video (腾讯视频), cần tài khoản Trung Quốc mới dùng được.
com.pptv.tvsports.preinstall — PPTV Sports, app thể thao nội địa Trung Quốc.
com.duokan.videodaily — Duokan, app đẩy video ngắn nội địa Trung Quốc.
com.pplive.atv — PPTV, app xem video nội địa Trung Quốc.
com.xiaomi.screenrecorder — quay màn hình TV.
com.mitv.screensaver — trình bảo vệ màn hình, gỡ đi thì TV không tự hiện ảnh/đồng hồ khi để không.

Hoàn tác bất cứ gói nào: app vẫn còn trong máy nên nó chỉ được bật lại, không tải gì về.

adb shell pm install-existing <tên-gói>

Đừng gỡ gói nào ngoài danh sách trong trang này. Nhiều gói nghe như rác nhưng lại là phần lõi của ROM: gỡ chúng là mất cổng HDMI, mất âm thanh, hoặc TV khởi động vào màn hình đen. Không thấy tên gói ở trang này thì để nguyên.

Out of the box, a Chinese-market Xiaomi TV speaks Chinese, has no international app store, and its remote's microphone button is claimed by Xiaomi's Chinese voice assistant. This page takes that TV and turns it into a usable one: English menus, sideloading enabled, LaunchPad as the home screen.

There are two parts. Part 1 you do on the TV with the remote, and everyone has to do it. Part 2 is the LaunchPad Clean app on your phone, which handles everything else for you. If you would rather type the commands yourself, Part 3 at the bottom shows how.

Part 1 — Prepare the TV with the remote

These four jobs happen entirely on the TV. No computer, no phone. When you're done the TV has English menus, is on Wi-Fi, has debugging turned on, and you know its IP address.

The screenshots are in Chinese. They come from the Chinese-market ROM, so the menus are still Chinese. Match them by the position of the tile and the shape of the characters rather than trying to read them. After the language step everything is in English.

1.1 — Switch the interface to English

The language setting is not in the normal Settings screen. It only lives in the quick settings panel, and that panel only appears if you press and hold the settings key. A normal press won't show it.

Step 1. Press and hold the settings key (the gear or hamburger key on the right side of the remote) until a panel slides out. Select 通用设置, the first tile.

Step 2. In the list that opens, scroll down to the 语言 (language) row and press OK.

Step 3. The language list appears. Pick English.

Step 4. The TV asks you to confirm. The dialog has two buttons: press the blue one on the left, marked 确定 (confirm). The right-hand 取消 is cancel, and pressing it does nothing at all.

Step 5. The screen blinks and the menus come back in English. Done.

The same settings list as before, now with every label in English and the Language row reading English.

1.2 — Get the TV onto Wi-Fi

Step 1. Press and hold the settings key again to reopen the quick settings panel, then choose the Wi-Fi tile.

Step 2. Pick your network from the list, type the password, and wait until it reports as connected. The phone or computer you use in Part 2 and Part 3 must be on this same Wi-Fi network.

1.3 — Turn on debugging (ADB)

Without this, neither the LaunchPad Clean app nor the adb commands can reach the TV.

Step 1. Open the TV's Settings app, find the About tile on the bottom row (next to Display / Sound / Input source) and press OK.

Step 2. Move down to the Model row and press OK about 5 times, until a toast at the bottom says "You are now a developer" (first time) or "You are already a developer" (already unlocked, which also counts as done).

On this ROM it is the Model row, not the Build row as on most other Android devices. Clicking the Build row here unlocks nothing.

Step 3. Press Back to return to Settings and select the Account & Security tile on the top row.

Step 4. Under SECURITY, set both rows to Allow: Unknown sources (without it the TV refuses to install anything from outside its store) and ADB debugging.

The first time a phone or computer connects, the TV pops up a debugging permission dialog. You have to press Allow on the TV itself, and ticking "always allow from this device" saves you doing it again. Miss that dialog and the connection sits there unauthorised.

1.4 — Find the TV's IP address

Reopen the quick settings panel, go into the Wi-Fi tile and select the network you're connected to (the one from step 1.2). A detail screen opens; look for the IPV4 address row. It's four numbers separated by dots, usually starting with 192.168.. Write it down, both Part 2 and Part 3 need it.

Part 2 — Use the LaunchPad Clean app (recommended)

LaunchPad Clean is an Android app that runs on your phone. It talks to the TV over wireless ADB, so there's no computer, no cable and no commands to type.

All you do is open the app and either type in the IP address from step 1.4 or tap the scan button and let the app find TVs on the network. Press Allow on the TV when it asks. The app does the rest:

Installs the LaunchPad TV launcher, a keyboard, a replacement Settings app and Google voice search.
Grants the permissions LaunchPad needs, including the one for changing the system language and region.
Removes Xiaomi's stock launcher, but only once the replacement is installed and running.
Clears out the junk: the Chinese voice assistant holding the microphone button, the ad apps and the Chinese-market apps.

The app follows the safe order: install the replacement first, remove the old one after. That ordering is exactly what people get wrong doing this by hand.

Part 3 — Doing it by hand with `adb`

This part is for people who want to run each step themselves. The result is the same as Part 2, you just type it. adb is Google's official tool for talking to an Android device from a computer.

This is safe: every removal here uses --user 0, which only hides the app from the current user — the app stays on the device and is never wiped from storage. Bring it back any time with pm install-existing, and a factory reset restores everything too.

3.1 — Install `platform-tools`

Pick the build for your computer's operating system (official Google links):

Unzip it into a folder and open a command window inside that folder. On Windows: click the folder's address bar, type cmd, press Enter. On macOS or Linux: open Terminal, type cd , drag the folder into the window, press Enter, and type the commands below as ./adb ….

3.2 — Connect to the TV

Replace <TV-IP> with the address from step 1.4:

adb connect <TV-IP>
adb devices

The second command must print a line ending in device. unauthorized means you still have to press Allow on the TV. offline means run adb connect again. No line at all means the IP or the network is wrong. A USB cable works too, in which case skip the connect command.

3.3 — Hand the microphone button to LaunchPad

These two commands hide Xiaomi's Chinese voice assistant, the thing currently holding the remote's microphone button:

adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.xiaomi.voicecontrol
adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.xiaomi.mitv.karaoke.service

Each prints Success. Failure [not installed for 0] just means your TV doesn't have that app, so skip it. That's fine.

3.4 — Grant LaunchPad its permissions

So LaunchPad can set the system language and region, which is what makes voice search understand Vietnamese:

These print nothing on success. No error message means it worked. They affect LaunchPad only.

3.5 — Make LaunchPad the home screen

Order matters: install LaunchPad TV first, open it, confirm it works, only then remove Xiaomi's home screen. Remove it before a replacement is in place and the TV has no home screen at all: HOME lands on a blank screen, and the only way back in is adb.

adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.mitv.tvhome

Then press HOME on the remote. The system asks which home screen to use, so pick LaunchPad TV and tick "always use this app" if offered. If nothing is asked, open Settings and look for the home-screen setting (named Home, Home screen or Launcher, depending on the ROM).

3.6 — Clear out ad and Chinese-market apps

The apps below can be hidden to make the TV leaner and less ad-ridden. Only remove the ones you don't use, don't paste the whole set: some of it you may actually want, the screensaver for instance. The command:

com.xiaomi.mitv.advertise — banners and boot-time ads.
com.xiaomi.mibox.gamecenter — game center; remove it and the games storefront is gone.
com.xiaomi.tv.gallery — the built-in photo viewer.
com.xiaomi.tv.appupgrade — auto-updater for preinstalled Xiaomi apps.
com.ktcp.tvvideo — Tencent Video (腾讯视频), needs a Chinese account to be of any use.
com.pptv.tvsports.preinstall — PPTV Sports, a Chinese-market sports app.
com.duokan.videodaily — Duokan, which pushes Chinese-market short videos at you.
com.pplive.atv — PPTV, a Chinese-market video app.
com.xiaomi.screenrecorder — TV screen recording.
com.mitv.screensaver — the screensaver; remove it and the TV stops showing photos or a clock while idle.

To undo any of them: the app is still on the device, so this only re-enables it, nothing is downloaded.

adb shell pm install-existing <package-name>

Do not remove packages that aren't listed on this page. Plenty of them sound like junk but are core parts of the ROM: removing those costs you HDMI input, audio, or a TV that boots to a black screen. If a package name isn't on this page, leave it alone.
